Funny story!

So...this morning I was going out to North Hollywood to spend time with some friends that I haven't seen in a million years.

I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some necessities: Diet Coke, grapes and some flowers.

I chose a line with an incredibly non-enthusiastic mumbling clerk. I immediately become obssessed with her level of disinterest and complete non-enunciation and she makes her way through the customers in front of me.

It's finally my turn. She mumbles. And mumbles some more. I work within the mumbles and slide my Vons/Pavilions card to get my whopping discount. As she is ready to mumble the total, she mumbles something else under her breath.

(what i hear:) "Do you wanna donate a dollar today to the NBA?"

(time for me to process) "No thanks." I proceed to slide my debit card through the machine as I think about what she has asked me. I snipe back "I think the NBA is doing just fine without my dollar."

The cashier stops and stares at me. "Muscular Dystrophy???" she says, much clearer this time.

I laugh and laugh and laugh. I say "I thought you were asking for a donation for the NBA!!! Basketball!!"

This even gets her to laugh.

I am an idiot.

And Jerry still didn't get my dollar.
